Though this trek is not considered very hard as there are few steep climbs, however stamina to walk in high altitudes with cold weather is required. Hence it is recommended to practice long and brisk walk at least a month prior to the trek. It is also suggested that beginners also try other exercises and some yoga in order to breathe comfortably in high altitude zones.

About the trek

The beautiful mountains of Himachal Pradesh have been attracting trekkers from around different places to exploit the mesmerizing nature. Deo Tibba is one such alluring experience with hanging glaciers, rocky terrains, lush green meadows and lofty mountains. This trek trails through different villages including Panduropa, Setan, Hampta Pass, Chhika, Piyangniru, Raurikhaudi and a few more. Going ahead further is an ancient village Jogidugh, which is said to be the abode of Thakshak Nag (serpent God) and also other Nag Gods. Trailing along with views of snow-clad mountains, gentle streams we reach the Bhanara caves, which was claimed to be the dwelling place of Pandvas during their exile. Thus this trek offers a complete package of nature’s beauty with historic origin.

 

Day 00Arrive Manali

Manali Altitude: 8156 ft

Check in the hotel in Manali and have a night stay to get acclimatized to the climate. Relax at the hotel, visit nearby places such as Old Manu Rishi Temple, the prominent Hadimba Devi Temple and walk along the city, visit the local market followed by an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 01Manali – Prini – Ponduropa – Setan

Altitude:  8856 ft

Average time taken: 4-5 hours

The journey starts after an early breakfast with a drive to Pirni, through a zigzag route with a view of an extensive valley to reach the Khangpa village. This village is inhabited with Saten clad, said to be originated from Spiti, and used to move like Nomads. This village is our overnight campsite.

Day 02Panduropa – Setan – Chhika

Altitude: 9840 ft

Average time taken: 4 hours

Today we start with our trek, filled with breathtaking landscapes, beautiful weather and snow clad mountains. En-route Chikla our next campsite, we come across mountain ranges below the Hampta Pass and the river Allan Nallah. This river is the snout of Hampta pass and the campsites are located by it making the stay extremely pleasant.

Day 03Chhika – Marhi 

Altitude: 10284 ft

Average time taken: 5 hours Hours

We start the trek post breakfast with some sight seeing along the campsite of Chikla and then cross the river to explore the other side with jaw dropping views of Deo Tibba, Indrasan and Inderkilla, Hanuman Tibba and a few other summits. To add to this beauty we realize we are standing amidst the Beas Kund supported by the landscapes of Bara Bhangal.

Day 04Marhi – Piyangniru

Altitude: 12792 ft

Average time taken: 4 Hours

This day starts with an early breakfast followed by an ascent along towards Piyangniru. During this trek our eyes are filled snow-clad regions and mountain ranges making it a splendid experience. Its an entire alpine trail, till we reach our next campsite of Piyangniru. On reaching we spend time exploring the surrounding with massive moraines and hanging glaicers.

Day 05Marhi – Piyangniru

Day 06Raurikhaudi – Jogidugh Lamadugh/Sorotu

Altitude: 10824 ft

A small trek filled with great importance of the Hindu mythology especially amongst the locals, as the destination, Jogidugh is the abode of serpent God, Thakshak Nag. It’s a small village claimed to be of these eighteen Nag Gods and holds a special place for devotees.

Day 07Jogidugh – Tilgan

Average time taken: 4 Hours

Altitude: 9512 ft

Tilgan is vast meadow, which offer scenic and beautiful views of Manali valley, the town and surroundings. The trail is a steep descend followed by a small uphill climb along the stream, after which is a flat land till our next campsite. On reaching up we relax, explore around followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Day 08 Tilgam – Manali – Prini via Bhanara

Average time taken: 4 Hours trekking

Altitude: 7544 ft

Its on the scenic trails of the tek with an easy descend towards Bhanara, seeing the local temple and a cave known as the Arjun Gufa, which is considered a hiding place of the Pandavas during their exile. Walking for a few kilometers we come across the roadside from where we drive down to Manali in private vehicles.

On reaching Manali is dinner followed by an overnight stay, which is the end to a stunning journey as next day we depart to our desired destinations.
