Usually these high altitudes lakes are difficult to reach and needs days of hiking and crossing difficult terrains, before the sight of the lake can be cherished. But all these tough complications can be kept at bay with the beautiful Bhrigu Lake Trek in the upper Kullu Valley based in the eastern side of the famous Rohtang pass in Himachal Pradesh. The special meadows stretch far and wide, undulating, almost like an endless carpet. Everywhere you see it is lush green against the deepest blue sky. But what will take your breath away is the incredible views. Sitting on the grassy knolls you are surrounded by snow peaks that stretch to the horizon. The steep trail goes through virgin forests and lush green meadows which open into the beautiful campsite of Rola Khuli. DAY 01 - Arrive at Manali Basecamp
Arrive at Manali Base Camp on your own. Complete the registration process and the rest of the day is available to you for leisure. Acclimatize yourself with the weather and you can go explore the local markets and enjoy some delicious local cuisine. In the evening we quickly catch up for an orientation session regarding the trek route, things to carry and how to pack your backpack. Overnight stay at our campsite.
DAY 02 - Drive from Manali to Gulaba | Trek to Rohlikohli campsite
Distance covered : 6 kms

Time taken : 5 – 6 hours

Altitude : 12500 feet

Start your journey with a jeep ride from Manali for Gulaba. The jeep ride normally takes 3 hours. This will be the start of your trekking adventure. The route is a full ascend and you will pass two  streams on the way to the campsite (Chor Nallah and Kohli Nallah). Rohli Kohli is a beautiful campsite and offers mesmerizing views of the Solang Valley. Rohli Kohli is a scenic grazing ground used by local shepherds. Located at the base of Bhrigu Lake, it makes for an ideal camping spot. Retire for the night with a comfortable stay in tents under a blanket of stars.

DAY 03 - Trek to Bhrigu Lake
Distance covered : 6 kms

Time taken : 4 – 5 hours

Altitude : 14000 feet

Start your day early in the morning and have some breakfast with magnificent views from the campsite. Post breakfast we will begin trekking towards the most awaited Bhrigu Lake. In June, the trail is usually covered in snow. In July, as the snow melts on the lower reaches, you see the trail slowly turning from green to brown and white. As you reach the ridge, look for an oval glacial lake in the distance. We reach the lake by afternoon and we enjoy the lunch by the lakeside and relax for a while. According to mythological stories, Rishi Bhrigu meditated here and used to take a bath in the holy water. Post lunch we will start our descend back to the Rohli Kohli campsite and relax for the rest of the day. Retire for the night in your tents.

DAY 04 - Trek back to Gulaba and Departure
Distance covered : 6 kms

Time taken : 4 – 5 hours

Altitude : 12500 feet

This is the last day of your wonderful trek. Bid goodbye to the scenic beauty and the towering peaks and head back to Gulaba. The trek is a full descend and surrounded by lush green meadows. After reaching to Gulaba, ride back to Manali in jeeps and this will be end of this breathtaking trek and your journey with us.

What should I wear during trek?

Full sleeves quick dry t-shirts and full trousers are recommended. You can also carry a cap, sunglass and waterproof jackets.

What kind temperature we will experience?

During the daytime temperature is within 15 to 20 degree Celsius while in night it drops to 0 to 5 degree Celsius.

How is the food?

We offer a healthy and nutritious vegetarian diet which is recommended during the trek. All the meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. We also arrange for Jain food on special request.

What kind of tents we will get to stay?

Campers will be provided tents on a triple sharing basis.

Are there separate tents for boys and girls?

Yes, there are separate tents for boys and girls.

Is rucksack compulsory?

Yes, rucksack is compulsory for the trek.

Can extra luggage be deposited at base camp?

Yes, the entire extra luggage (which is not required for the trek) can be deposited at the base camp.

Is it required to bring any ID proof during the trek?

Yes, ID proof is essential for the trek. Only Aadhar card/ Voter ID Card/ Driving License/Passport will be accepted.

Is Medical Certificate essential?

Yes, medical certificate is essential for the trek.

Are we going to get network during the trek?

You get network till Gulaba. After Gulaba, there will be no network available.

What are the risks involved in the trek?

Bhrigu Lake is a moderate level trek and there are very limited/no risk scenarios involved in the trek. A hundred percent guarantee to the safety of all participants will be provided by, only if participants are following all the instructions given by guides.

What are the safety measures taken?

Guides who accompany the group members are certified from government mountaineering institutes and are expert in handling scenarios like medical issues or physical injuries. A first aid medical kit and rescue kit is always available with the guide.

Do I need to carry any first aid along with me?

If there is any personal medication, make sure that you are carrying medicines for it and the guide should be aware of it.

What kind of toilet facilities is available during the trek?

On the trek toilet tents will be pitched separately for boys and girls.

What about drinking water during the trek and at campsites?

Natural water sources like stream are used for drinking at campsites. It is very safe to drink the water.

Can I carry my DSLR?

Yes, one can carry DSLR camera provided you take care of it against snow, rain and shock.

Are trekking shoes compulsory?

Yes, trekking shoes are compulsory. A good trekking shoe should have an ankle support, good grip and water proof. In case if you are buying a new pair of shoes, make sure you are using it at least 15 days prior to the event.

Is liquor allowed in the trek?

No, liquor is strictly prohibited in the trek. Strict disciplinary actions will be taken if anyone is found with the possession of alcohol.

Is smoking allowed in the trek?

No, smoking is not allowed during the trek.

How is the level of the trek?

The level of trek is moderate. The trek demands both physical stamina and mental endurance. On who is participating should do few cardio workouts one month prior to the event.

How should I prepare myself for the trek?

One should do cardio related exercise like running, swimming or cycling for at least 40 minutes for 25 days prior to the event.

Is it recommended for the first timers?

Yes, the trek is recommended for the first timers also.

What is the end point of trek?

The trek will end at Manali.

What is the best time for the trek?

The best time for the trek is from May to October.

Are we going to get snow in the trek?

You can expect snow from May to June. Post monsoon it is difficult to find snow on this trek.
